The first time I got chickens, I got them from a local feed store. The second time around, I decided that I wanted healthier birds so I went to an NPIP certified hatchery that isn't to far away from me. I would definitely go that route again next time.

Hoover's Hatchery. I can't say enough about their quality of birds and their customer service! I've ordered ducklings and chicks, multiple times. Love Hoovers!

I got 4 last year from a local farm store, 3 EE and 1 BR. This year I ordered 4 from Meyer that arrived on Wednesday, 2 Lt Brahma, 1 Blue/Black/Splash Orpington that I think is a Black, and 1 Crested Cream Legbar. I couldn't control myself and went yesterday and added 2 Sapphire Splash pullets. I'm trying to settle names on the new 6, but I think I've got that sorted out. I'm sure the Lt Brahma will probably be difficult to keep up which is which, but oh well LOL. My plan is hoping that the Orpington will live up to their broody tendency and I can get hatching eggs for her next year from a local Barnevelder breeder.

I got my first 6, 1 was a rescue (Silkie), and my this year babies from My Pet Chicken. Although not show quality they are all super sweet. We have, in hatch order, rescue Silky 3, 2 Brahmas, 2 Favorelles, and the Silkie will be 1 next month. My “Quarantine babies” are April 20th babies are fancy EEs 2 Favaucanas, a Super Blue, and a Snowy White
