Unopened Expired Yogurt 8/16/2017

I'm going to let some milk rot just to try it!

I've done many a science experiment in a milk jug. Let it sit long enough, and it will go past the clabber stage to a little skim of cottage cheesy stuff floating on top of a lot of whey. Let it sit a bit past that point, and when you open that jug up, it will have absolutely NO odor! I'm guessing that the sour putrid state would be a good time to add it to the compost. There I go again, flying in the face of convention. Dead mouse, dead squirrel? Other dead little critters? They get buried in the compost. Milk that I don't want to give to the birds (perhaps b/c there is too much of it) compost, or garden.

Good girl. Go sit in your corner then and don't bite the new people.

Could I possible leave said gallon of milk sitting in my garage..instead of my kitchen cabinet..I might gag every time I walked into the kitchen if I had to see it.

Um... why waste a whole gallon? Try it with a cup or two. Yeah, as long as your garage is not cold like a fridge, that milk will go sour!

Stop telling on me!
10 bucks and a chocolate chip and I might consider it.

I heard nibbling on Newbies was a pasttime around here?!
Wellll, we might take a swipe or two at the most annoying ones, but in general we don't bite that much. Except Kiki. She's a stinker. ;)

Why not just get kefir grains and give the birds the benifit of the trillions of probiotics at over 99% lictose free? It cost $8 for the grains online and the cost of a few cups of milk there after. And you can sell the reproduced grains if you wish. Drink it yourself, it's one of healthiest foods known to man and safe for those that are lactose intolerant.

Um... because I don't want to spend the $8. I don't want to deal with Kefir... though I have to be honest here and state that I've never tried it. I'm not lactose intolerant... or if so, only mildly so. I don't buy milk to feed to the chickens. When we have more milk than we consume, and I've not frozen the excess, the sour milk goes to the birds. I'm not spending a single penny out of pocket, while giving them a bit of extra nutrition. My birds get FF, so they get the benefit of probiotics there, and if not there, then from their DL.
