Unsafe freeway drivers....

Quote:
People driving privately owned vehicles on city streets are some of the most dangerous drivers I've ever seen. I take their accident reports each and every day I'm at work. I've taken far more accident reports involving "regular" cars and drivers than tractor trailer drivers in my twenty years in law enforcement.

I witness "regular" cars and drivers and truck drivers each day I drive to and from work on a major highway. It's amazing how foolish people are around trucks and trailers. Someone posted something similar earlier ... but, it's a lot easier to manipulate your car in and around tractor trailers and escape without harm, than it is for the truck driver with many thousands of pounds behind him to manipulate his vehicle.

I won't deny that are many "stupid" truck drivers. A whole lot of them shouldn't be driving their rigs. But, would I classify the lot of them as the most dangerous drivers? Not at all.

It all comes down to the individual behind the wheel. There are good and bad drivers everywhere, driving every kind of vehicle.

I am glad your DH is safe.

I am sooooooo Glad that your DH is safe, and yes I understand every thing you described, because I drive my rig everyday I go to my work, I work in excavations, and My toys are a little bigger than other ppl, and God is the only one who is saving me from other Idiots ( i MEAN BAD DRIVERS).

My husband has been driving for going on 30 yrs. I got my CDL and went on the road with him for a couple of years. My FIL drives, my BIL drives and I have worked for trucking companies since 1981. It's in my blood.

I wish that everyone would take a trip in one ~ 100 miles would do. You'd be amazed at what drivers have to deal with.

My husband has earned his wings out there on the road. So many times he has stopped to help people and many times disregarding his own safety to make sure they are safe.

He hauls heavy equipment ~ the majority of the time weighing as much as 130,000 lbs. Legal is 80,000. He's a good driver.

Bad drivers are everywhere, not limited by geography, gender or age. Nor by the vehicle they drive.

My husband drives for a road construction company, for over 30 years now. He has never had an accident that was his fault, and at that there have been two incidents, one on the highway, one on a main street in a town. People in cars are clueless as to what it takes to stop those trucks, reckless with their decisions around them, and cause the majority of the accidents in which a 'big truck' is involved. Are there bad truck drivers? Sure there are, but there are far more stupid people on four wheels who think they own the road and show little consideration for anyone else on it.
