Unsafe freeway drivers....

I won't EVER cut in front of a truck! I know how they inspect them freakin things. Money is everything unfortunately.

I have a relative that drives trucks. Has for a long time. I don't think he ever drove one that was inspected properly! He recently had a rear drop out on him! So when I drive down the road I don't know if the truck I'm driving near has bad brakes or not. I asssume they do and with a all the weight they pull, why in the world would anyone WANT to cut in front of them?

Just make sure he knows that if he knowingly drives a truck that is unsafe ~ and he is involved in an accident/fatality, there is a lawyer out there that will go after him as well as the trucking company.

That's why he job hops. Always hoping to find a better company. But it's hard to get into a really good company. I think unsafe trucks are more numerous than we'd like to admit.

If you feel that way about the inspections on big trucks.....

Stay away from commercial buses as well. I've seen the records of some of the companies....

Oh My family owns a towing and repair business... Our trucks are immaculate cause WE care and have pride.

I drive a school bus, our location is one of the top ranked in the state cause WE have pride in our buses and our location.

My ex BF owns a big rig, we still talk. He is a repair freak. If it's not right it gets fixed! I've helped pay for parts and we not together... Go Figure.

It all depends on the individual... Please don't lump all trucks together.

I have seen it all.......

Volunteer fire departments can be some of the worst at repairs cause they don't have funds and most repair shops won't work out payment plans.... WE do with the local departments.

And I won't even get started on some of the cars I have seen roll in here....... OH MY!

Put it this way - trucks try to leave enough of a safe distance between themselves and the vehicle ahead. In this case, with 86,000lbs on the trailer, he would need to leave 1 football field (100 yards) between them....

I know what you mean! I drive 100 miles a day to get to work/home. There are 8 miles of construction with reduced speed. I TRY to leave the suggested space between the car in front of mine. Does it work??? HECK no, why? Because of the idiots who drive 70 in a 45, the idiots who don't notice that all lanes have just stopped, etc etc. People who are more IMPORTANT than anyone else in the world, or should I say selfish?
I think most problems would be fixed by using the Golden Rule!
I do feel for anyone, car drivers, truckers who have to drive for a living. They get to see the morons of the world.

I work in transit and every single one of our buses goes through 107 point checklist every morning and every evening. Not one of our buses out there are in any danger of falling apart. I really dislike generalities.

I think we should all remember that the OP is in a very stressful situation. Her husband is away from home and he has gone through a traumatic event. Instead of assigning blame or getting into a war about drivers of various vehicles let's support her, and hope that this event does not cause further stress.

As a former soldier, LEO, and truck driver it is hard for these families to have their loved ones gone and not know if they are coming home. I am thankful the OP's husband is OK. And I will NOT weigh in as a former LEO and truck driver on fault either way. Stuff happens we should be thankful nobody was hurt.

I just want to thank you for that. Anyone who has a partner who drives a big rig for a living is on edge every time that person leaves for a trip. It's as I always tell my 18 yr old daughter when she drives - it's not HER I'm worried about, it's EVERYONE ELSE on the road. My DH is a Vet as well. I feel some concern that, while he's handled this quite well, I don't know that he won't be affected in the long run. This was a near-death experience, and not his first. I sure am glad he's not a cop, where people truly want to hurt you!
