So we still have our girl that had some heat exhaustion inside- she’s not doing well- but I’m very confused. She’s very thin, and seems very weak: however her stool is normal so I don’t suspect coccidia. Her comb is purple, so I’m thinking heart/circulatory. It can’t be respiratory because her eyes are clear, nostrils are clear. We’ve had issues with this same hen before. Am I missing something? The rest of our flock seems fine besides being hot but have enjoyed the offerings of watermelon, cucumber, and icy cold water every hour and half all day, not to mention the box fan they have fanning their run. Just want to make sure I’m not missing something serious- all we’re maricks vaxed as chicks.

She is about 3-4 years old and has not been laying. I have others that are the same age as her laying regularly. I don’t think she’s actually laid since the last time I brought her in for what I thought was egg binding about 3 months ago.

Is she still getting electrolytes? Perhaps her electrolyte balance has yet to be completely restored.

The purple comb and weight loss, however, can be signs of cancer tumors.

I did order nutridrench- she is eating scrambled eggs when given to her. We did one round of electrolytes but are trying to get more into her. I just wanted to make sure no one else felt like it was something communicable. No other signs of any illness in our 14 other girls- no signs of mites. On her or anyone else. As I said she seems fine besides the weight loss and lethargy. She doesn’t seem to be suffering. Trying our best.

If she hasn’t been laying there may be reproductive issues as well. I’m sorry your bird is ill.
Thank you- I know this is part chicken keeping. Things happen just want to make sure the other girls will be ok. We are replenishing electrolyte water for everyone just in case and I have nutridrench coming for any future issues

Does she have coughing or a rattle in her lungs? Can you feed her egg yolk to get some nutrients in her?
