Our 2 year old leghorns are laying big eggs (75grams +) almost daily. The problem is that the white and yolk are separating when I poach them, rather than forming a dense round. The yolk just floats free. Is this because they're getting old - the chooks I mean, - not the eggs! ? We also have 2 Isa browns and their eggs are fine. It's been a very hot summer (we're in Sydney). The eggs are fine otherwise.

    Thanks for any help. Badgie

Make sure they are getting a well balanced diet, otherwise it may just be because they are getting older.

I had that very thing with an old hen, just use those eggs for baking. Feed is not going to fix it.

    Need new hens!
