Unusual (to me) looking coturnix quail from mix color breeding

No worries.

You can tell if something is tibetan or a dilute tibetan by looking at the chest where no white is and the back.
Tibetans have much thinner lines on their backs and dark chests where the pharaohs usually have the spots or rust.

^ a diluted tibetan. Silver i think (with possible brown but won't know til its 6 week molt)

Yes, I see. This one look a lot like the last picture. I have chickens that I bred from mostly unknown, wild stock; not hatchery birds. I get all sort of different looking offspring and Ive always credited "hidden" genetics. I can see where that can happen with quail too, the hidden genetics. So white,m although recessive, can hide Tibetan and perhaps other color types?
Im going to look more carefully at my quail. I have noticed a difference in how what I thought were all Wild Pharaoh type looked but never thought it might be due to a different type of quail. Perhaps I have Tibetan in my mix and a Tibetan male mated with my white. Could that cause the dilute Tibetan? Im so interested in this genetic mixing thing for both chickens and quail. I have frizzled Faveroles running around my yard and I love the look. Of course they are not pure Faverole as the frizzle gene came from most likely a Cochin.

You're welcome :) . I think that golden is actually incomplete dominant, but not 100% sure. And the Pharaoh/wildtype seems like it may also be incomplete dominant cause most white coturnix have spots of that color. I'm just starting to learn about color genetics.
Golden is dominant, brown is incomplete dominant
Showing white on chest Its just a tibetan tuxedo not sure why anyone thinks this bird is abnormal. You cross range, rosetta, tibetan, or golden over a recessive white bird and you will get tuxedos. With pharaoh friend, unusual one is on the right Show yellow face Another shot Holding to show the white on chest better

Its tibetan x white, it is one of the most common color combinations there is. If you dont have tibetans then your pharaohs have been used as cross birds in the past. Breeding tibetan x tibetan will not generate tibetans, so you use pharaoh x tibetan to create tibetans.

I'm confused as to how Tibetan x Tibetan breeding wouldn't generate Tibetans...
E is an incomplete dominant.
SF Tibetan x wild type could produce normals and Tibetan coloured offspring....so how would E/e X E/e NOT produce Tibetans?

I was wondering this too...
