Update: Duckling pictures Edit: All dead :(. Help! My ducklings are all dying!

So very sorry this is happening to you. I have heard of sugar water maybe not that much. I always used a 30 gal. Storage container at first with red bulb like yours till they out grew that one I worry a smaller bulb might not keep her warm and she doesn't have other ones to snuggle with 90-95 f is a must. Please do yourself a favor leave the marbles in waterer I almost lost one on second morning she was weak like yours and got in waterer, got wet and chilled found her next morning almost dead but she was saved from that only to die the next day because I separated her and I believe I overheated her your girl is weak right now I don't want her to have same problem mine did leave marbles for 4 or 5 days till she can get about easily. I have ordered from metzers a couple of times im in virginia so cross country they arrived wed. am and i got the grow gel they are good to deal with let them send you replacements bc she will need some friends. It sounds like you did everything just right in perpetration so don't beat yourself up sometimes in nature they aren't meant to thrive or it could have been a bad hatch praying she makes it threw ducklings are a lot of fun.

Yes, I got the grow gel. They seemed fine in the box :(. I have a thermometer so I am making sure it's 95 under the bulb at one end, and it feels cool at the other so I'm pretty sure the temperature is ok. It is sounding like we didn't do anything awful, although maybe too much sugar, I feel a little better. They are sending replacements next week. In the meantime, would it be a good idea for us to get one of the who knows what breed ducklings at the farm store so that my solo lady isn't alone? I fashioned a "mama duck" out of feathers and am going to stick it against the wall if she needs some comfort too...

Sounds great on temps. Another duckling from farm stores has pro and cons will they let you buy one to many might overrun her at moment and you when the other babies arrive and the solo time might benefit her little system it's all up to you. Your idea on mama duck sounds good as soon as you know she's getting around ok get her a stuffed animal ducklings love them and it would keep her co. Make sure she's on non medicated chick starter and poultry vitamins like nutri drench and sav a chic are excellent directions for mixing on the packs. Once you get her going check into niacin vitamins this is important for them as well. Not sure about bedding I used and still use pine shavings it seemed easier for them to move about but what you have her on is good for time being one more thing did you check bedding and feed for mold even new feed can be moldy and mold is deadly other than that I brooded very similar to your set up all was fine so I believe it was a nature thing even though heartbreaking.

I would. She will get very lonely. <3 I am glad Metzers is sending replacements. I'm sorry you had to go through this. <3

I feel terrible for you, but I think you did everything you could.
If they get stressed that young, there's really not much you can do for them.
I admit, the sugar water is new to me as well. I've only ever used straight tap water.

If you don't get a friend, you might consider a duckling pouch and keep it close to you.

Best of luck with your new ones.

Went to give her the mama duck and she's gone too. Now they are all piled in the box they came in, I'm a wreck.

ok, any more perfect brooder suggestions? One more try next week with a new set, if this happens again I think I'm done :(

Oh, you poor thing. I'm so sorry.
Don't give up!
It sounds like you have it all under control for your next ones.

I've had very good luck with:
both wood and metal brooders
red heat lamp at one side (i anchor cord as well, in case clamp ever popped off)
coarse pine shavings (bigger flakes) on top of newspaper
tap water
chick feed

I've never added anything to the water, or used marbles, and have never used medicated feed.

I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!!

So sorry for your losses! Keep us posted on the new arrivals we are here to help with any questions on brooder the info on metzers is very good duckling advice and try the pine shavings big storage bins is what a lot of us have used with headlamps I used chick wire on top as well so lamp couldn't fall but the vitamins are added insurance. Wish I knew what else to say but I've been where you are with my little lula girl again very sorry.

I have just been reading this heart breaking thread and I am so very sorry for what you have just gone through. I am not one to talk much about the care of Ducks as Quack-Quack is only 3 and half weeks old so far, but I have been using soft blankets for bedding (cleaned daily) and a heating pad on low under a pillow case for heat because I was afraid of a light falling in. I also use just plain tap water. I hope you have better luck next week and will look forward to hearing.
