UPDATE:Eye infection/deformity??? Please help? PIC

Sometimes some animals just get infections. I agree with everyone too. Terramycin eye ointment wonderful but triple antibiotic ointment works ok in eye too. The major difference between eye ointment and topical is sterility. I definitely would give tylan by mouth. I strongly believe in that. I wouldn't cull her. I would try to get her well. Everyone deserves a chance. Whenever a chicken that I have is sick and i doctor it and it isn't eating I drop tube down there throat into their crop and fill them up with nutrition. Ensure, baby formula anything really is better than nothing. You can feel the tube in their crop to know you are giving it to them in right place. I also give them 1/2 of b complex vitamin and vitamin e. Everything helps.

Well that's good news. Hopefully she sustained only a peck, or has a local bacterial problem. Keep the area clean and dry. Flush with the saline often then pat dry. Don't rub.

If you can post another picture of her now that she's cleaned up I'd like to see how she looks.

Cheers,
Donna

That cochin was obviously ill. I would be very reluctant to bring in any new birds from that same source. That JG may be carrying whatever the cochin had. I hope you put the new bird into a strict quarantine for a month, then introduce a sacrificial bird from your flock into the quarantine area for an additional month, before allowing the JG anywhere near your flock. You would be ill-advised to do anything else.

Good luck.
