**UPDATE** HELP!! Rooster mounted her and now she won't stand!! HELP!!

It's weird this happened to all of our hens at the same time.

I was hoping for some updates on the other hens. Are any of them better.

I have my girl in a box in the house. She's eating and drinking and she manages to get out of the box, but when she tries to stand she falls over. There doesn't seem to be anything broken as far as legs or wings, but she will sit fine and then just lean to the side either direction.

I tried taking her outside when it seemed she was coming around and I wanted to see if she would just get up and start moving. The BCM hens had been pecking at her comb and it was bloody. I have cleaned it up and I'm using neo on it.

The games came running when I took her out and even her favorite buddy and my nicest hen tried to peck her head and comb, so she's in the house until the cuts clear up also. She has some on her head in the comb area and around her eyes.

I'm sure the big roo mounted her. The tell tale broken feathers that he curses my BCM hens with is apparent although she was lucky her didn't break them to the skin like he has with others. I'm going to stop being a whimp about it and remove those suckers! SPURS!

She seems to move fine for a few seconds although her body stays low and then the toppling starts. Is it possible that she could still do this if say her back was broken or there was damage to it?

My games are my gentlest birds and I hate that this happened to her. Just want to see her get better. I'm keeping her mostly in the dark and warm.

Could it just be shock? Hopefully keeping her warm and secure will help if that's the case.

Anyway I'd really like some updates on the others as well as any ideas that could help her.

my girl is still stumbling around but i have been giving her cheese, yogurt, and a mix of water with aspirin, vitamins and electrolytes and she seems to be ok with it. she's been in the house the last couple of days in the dogs pen with lots of cushioning to keep her comfy.

She's getting a little better although not moving around much. It's like she loses her balance.

I just hope the roo didn't her her really bad. I feel so sorry for her.

I don't know why he even went after her. He makes no attemp to even go in the same direction of the games. The BCMs have their own little click. I do have a BR that is out with the games that I have bred him too, but he didn't go anywhere near the others, just this one. I think she may have gone into their run and that;s when the problem started.

try giving her vitamin B12 and vit. E in her food, hens can get vitamin deficiencies that can lead to leg paralysis. Maybe she has this problem also, it sure worked on one of my hens, all of a sudden she was unable to walk for over a week, I looked it up here and found it to be a common proble, my birds are in a molt now, so maybe that additional stress brought it on. But the vitamin treatment worked it took about 10 days for her to walk again, but she is just fine now. I also gave her some electrolyte solution and keep her separated from the others in a warm place with food and water at her reach.

I have a hen I'm trying to get better set up right now. She is terrified of the other birds. When the rooster mounts her, several females will pick at her. When the females pick at her, then the rooster mounts her. The problem became obvious when she had a bad limp trying to escape these birds (what a vicious cycle). It's hard for them to eat and drink with this going on so they need to be separated or protected for awhile. She used to free range but now she's afraid to go anywhere. There may be other problems but first make sure she has access to food and water and protection.

The weird thing is, I think my cranky old alpha hen would go after this hen to make the rooster mount the weaker one instead of her. Up until then the rooster was mounting the old gal alot. It seemed to turn into a game between the cranky hen and the rooster.

update on Chloe, my bantam mahogany fav, after giving her the water/vit/min/aspirin mix she seems to be trying to move more on her foot/leg but still not putting her full weight on her foot yet. she seems to be getting better and i think it may just be that she pulled the muscles to the point of exhaustion when the roo got to her. she has been in the house for the past 4 days so this seems like a good improvement! she's going to stay in the house for probably another week till i am sure she is back to normal.

Mine is doing better and followed me around in the yard. Thought things would be alright, but the minute I wasn't right with her one of the hens ran up and started on her comb and head again. I'm going to keep her secluded for now till she heals. I think they are just attracked to the wound, but this hen ran from the far end of the yard, wings out and jumped on her before I could get to them. Meant I had t wack my favorite hen. She looked do upset that I would do that, but geez.
