UPDATE: ITS THE FOOT NOT THE HIP:added picture

Here is a list of stuff Stromberg's offerers. You can likely get the same stuff at Tractor supply or other feed-type store. Not only would I try to find something for pain but I think I'd be giving her electrolytes too so that she's getting the most bang for her buck when she drinks. Nutridrench for poultry should help her start to eat better and help to remove some of her stress, 1oz per quart of water.

I wanted to post a picture. We got her leg wrapped up and got a sling in the crate. We have named her Penelope. I got her some baby aspirin for pain and put it in her water. She is eating and drinking. I have made her some scrambled eggs and some oatmeal and she is eating her crumbles. I will get the vitamins for her water tomorrow.

I wanted to thank all of you for helping and giving the advise. You all are great!

(sorry for the lighting...its my flash)

She is such a cutie! She actually looks pretty good for all she's been through. I have seen others' pics of slings, looks like a great way to help a sick chicken recuperate, I'm keeping that in my bag of tricks.

Thanks. She has been really great through this for the past couple of days. I cannot begin to tell you how sweet she is. The thought of her being killed just because she was hurt just upsets me. I am not sure how long to leave the leg wrapped. And hopefully tomorrow I can get her outside for a bit now that the rain will be gone for a day! (way too much rain). Anyone know how long to keep it wrapped?

Keep her dry, check the toes to make sure they are not colder than the good foot. Don't be in a rush to remove the support unless you think her circulation is impaired. You want that leg nice and strong, especially is there is a crack or minor break and to keep the toes from curling...I wouldn't remove it until she is able to walk without limping for 5 days.
