I assume since they sent you home, it wasn't your water? (Assuming b/c they've gotten pretty strict about having you on a watch once your water breaks now.)

Good luck!

My first child was born at 24 wks and 5 days...very scary and was drugged enough to not remember everything. Due date of Jan 26 and came Oct 10 weighing 1lb 15oz. I was 7 cm when he delivered and he came flying out after 3 pushes. He is now a rowdy 6yr old who is doing very well in school with no side effects of his early arrival. Whenever he pushes my buttons I remember that if he'd been born a week earlier, he may not be with us. Its sobering.

His brother who is 3 was induced a week early because I'd been on bed rest with him from the end of August to Thanksgiving (my OB was feeling sympathetic). If I had a chance to do it again I'd tell her to save her sympathy. Once the pitocin(sp?) kicks in, it goes fast - 1 1/2 hours and lots of crying and screaming later

What a relief! He roomed with me and it was a joy (and a miracle) to have him sleep snuggled up with me. I'd wake up and find him nursing and go back to sleep myself. I wasn't a good patient but I'd do it all again. I'll PM some pics.

Have fun with your little one. I agree that its your presence, not presents, that is important. Nurse your little mugwump and enjoy the quiet moments that only you can share. They were some of my most cherished moments with my two and I miss it.

One piece of advice I learned...don't rock in a rocking chair while nursing, baby will fall asleep before they have had their fill and always let them sleep in their own bed. Use a co-sleeper for the first month or so but put him a crib to sleep. You and your honey will want to have time for yourselves. Classmate's mom of my youngest boy is having a hard time getting her four year old to sleep in his own bed having slept with his parents for so long.

And one piece of advice I have is that you'll be given lots of advice, you need to find what works for you and your family!

When people find out it's your first, everyone and their brother will give you advice, whether you want it or not!
