Update on chicks.. sad...

Update - I put an ad on Craigslist, and I found a local guy wanting to get rid of two 4-6 week old wyandotte roos, and so I am probably going to pick them up tommorow. They will keep the lone chick company while I am waiting for an order of RIR's. The guy is going to take two of the pullets from me, which is great, because I didn't want five, but it was the minimum order. So, all in all it looks like things are going to work out, and when the two roos get a little older, they will most likely make for a tasty meal.

The same thing happened to us when we got our first chicks 5 weeks ago. 3 buff orpingtons - and two of them died within just a couple of hours of getting them home. The remaining chick was so lonely that we borrowed a chick of the same age from a friend (who since has given her to us). And she was so happy for the company and they are growing into fine little pullets.

But I felt so bad when those two died - and wondered if I was up to this. It gets easier, so just persevere. The rewards will be worth it.
