Update on Gertie’s bumblefoot

It’s me again. My mom got in contact with someone in our area who’s had experience with chickens. I talked with her via email, and she said she’d be willing to come take a look at Gertie’s foot. She came to our place (we took precautions because of Covid, of course) yesterday, and we showed her Gertie’s foot. She showed us where we still needed to get more infection out. My dad operated on her foot (again) while I held her to keep her calm. We think we managed to get the rest of it out this time. It seemed painful for the poor girl to go through that. She’s been resting up in the coop since then, with her foot all bandaged with antibiotic ointment. We’ll check on the wound today and change the bandage.
