*UPDATE* Ordered Assorted Cochin Bantam Special from Ideal

Has anyone thought to ask Ideal why they don't put q heat pack in their shipments. I know Meyer Hatchery does. You should think about ordering from them or My Per Chicken as they are a Middlemen forMeyer.

they wont, they wont let you choose a shipping method either. I was told that extra bedding would be added, and it was noted on the order AND that the males would be marked.... NONE of the above!

I ordered from Meyer a few weeks ago and there was no heat pack. Out of 27 chicks shipped only three were still alive on arrival. They are reshipping them in March. Hope to have better luck this time.

I had the option to get my chicks in February or May. I choose a May shipment because it will be warmer and safer for the chicks. I also chose Meyer because it has a lot of good reviews (except in winter) and the hatchery is only 4 hours from me, and they should arrive the day after they are shipped.

I'm sorry your babies didn't make it, very sad.

I ordered mine from Ideal, I got 30 bantams and they all arrived in a day and they are all still alive at 3 weeks old.
I believe this was a postal service error, not one of Ideals...So sorry!!

Well 10 out of 29 made it,warmed them up and gave them all sugar water. For chicks that where on the brink of death they are doing great.
Now to see how they do over night.

If the post office had not held them an extra night im sure almost all of them would have made it.

That's really sad... I'm glad you saved 10 of them. I wish some people had more common sense when it comes to animals. Those people at the post office should not have hung on to them so long... :(

So glad to hear some of your babies are doing well. It's still a horrible loss.
