I hope Red gets better soon. Be careful with over medicating.

Some where at the beginning of this thread there was a link to manure pictures. The picture in the post is too blurry for me to really see, but if the color in the middle is brown and not red it is probably normal.

I live in CA and here the University Extension will help with chickens. They do a free Necropsy of dead chickens to see what killed them. Hopefully Red will recover so you wont have to deal with that any time soon.

Thank you so much ronott1 for your response. I feel soo stupid.... I remember that post being there now....ooops.. Oh well, we all make mistakes. I don't want to over medicate her but I am at aloss as to what is going to help her at this point. If you have any other suggestions, i'm open.......

Ivermectin will take care of worms and mites and lice. I use 3 drops for my standard hens. The Dept of Agriculture people told me that Wazine isnt worth bothering with. I just went through all this with my flock. They were dying off and I couldnt figure out what it was. I was using Wazine and DE so assumed that they were safe from worms and mites. They are both useless. My chickens got worms and mites even though I had DE all over the place and had wormed with Wazine. They told me to use Ivermectin. The very next day everyone was already looking better. If Red is that bad, check to see if she's lost weight. My chickens were getting scary thin because of the worms.

Did you use inject able and did you drop into the mouth or on the body? If on the body where? How much did your chickens weigh?

I am asking because I got some yesterday and will treat my chickens with it today or tomorrow.

I did use Ivermectin 2 days ago I think it was. She is still panting and very unbalanced, but she can get around if she really wants to. I was wondering, I have some canned mixed fruit here, would I hurt her to have some canned fruit? I didn't get out to get any fresh fruit yet.

I used the pour on, 3 drops on the skin at the base of the neck for standard size chickens.

Thanks, yes it was the drops on the shoulder that I did with red. I used 5-6 drops though. Wanted to be sure we got the little buggers.
I am trying to feed her the poultry conditioner/show bird feed but I don't think she likes it much. And she has taken a liking to having her food wet. Easier for her to digest I guess. The last batch that I made her had some layer feed in it, some canned cat food, and the Manna Pro poultry conditioner. She is slowly eating it. I am worried though that she is going to get too hot today our heat index is to be around 110 and we are not used to that here. She does have her own fan and shade but it still worries me. I am also worried about my other hens with this heat. I do not have a fan for them.!!!

I would probably not use the canned fruit, there is quite a bit of sugar in that stuff.
