Property damage is a crime, take photos to document then probably patch the fence and find your chickens.

After that, you can proceed with the law on your side. Not enough information to blame anyone or be angry. Maybe the workers did it and they dont even know.

We bought fencing today. Got too late to fix it tonight, after chasing our girl, but it'll be fixed tomorrow.
That doesn't matter so much it is an easy fix. Not knowing upset me. Things happen.
They were nice enough fellas that did the work. They probably didn't tell the neighbors they did it. The neighbors probably didn't notice it until our chickens got out.
A small price tag seeing as how we got our girls back and new friends to boot
Having nice neighbors that go above and beyond is a good thing to have.
If they were creeps that mighta been different. But all in all it turned out pretty great.
This use to be a quiet cut through Street. Not a neighborhood perse. Then things started changing. Now we're going to have a highway cut through in front of our house, for a trucking company.
It's nice to know the few neighbors you have are pretty decent.
