Here are more pictures of the complete Happy Hen House! Tomorrow is running the wire, building an overhang and adding special touches

Cross ventilation which runs across the entire side of the coop on both sides:

The door installed, whoops I missed a paint spot

Door opened, I am going to make a wire screen to fit the door opening so I can pop it in when I want to door open for more air to go through

Looking at the back again, this where we are going to put an overhang for shade/shelter, this is going to be completely fenced in

This is part of the chicken yard area, we measure one section 14x7 and the other area is 7x7, it is in the shape of an L

and the new self locking latch, I am going to run a string through the top and thread to the inside of the coop to be able to unlock it if I get locked inside

Thank you all for looking and I am open for suggestions too, if you see anything that could be altered/changed/added too let me know, I am also working on nest boxes, finish the paint job I missed and set up posts to run wire, awning and cover for the run.

I am so excited! I let the pullets check it out and they were all clucking happily inside the new Hen House

It has been slow going due to the heat but we got the lean-to done today

and we have to wait a week to get fencing, so DH wants me to hang on until we get it completely fenced before adding my special touches, I do have some things lined up and ready to go, the pullets and cockerel are already roosting in the hen house and we haven't added the shavings yet

Another view of the area that will be fenced in with a cover

I moved my peppers under their little window to give it some colour
100_6244.jpg

My list of wants is pretty big, I would love to add window boxes under both windows, a stone path from the drive way to the hen house and some other exterior decorations plus chicken friendly plants

Oh, here is a closer view of the lean-to, it is to keep their food and water under plus give them shelter

And thank you all for your comments! I noticed the coop looks a little uneven so I remeasured it and it is very level, just the way the land sits makes the coop look tilted and the way DH built it isn't going to go anywhere

Here are the newest pics, our friend brought a kennel that someone was throwing away so we placed it around and later I will rearrange the panels when they finally get the shed sided

I planted some bushes to give them a place to go for shade
100_6330.jpg

One of the little peepers checking out the pop door, yes the door was cut way to big! we are going to frame it out
100_6329.jpg

We let the 6 wk olds out to explore their new area
100_6331.jpg

My sons wanted to name the coop and this is what we came up with
wink.png
we are playing with stencils/colors and designs

We have another section fenced off for our little guineas
100_6333.jpg

It is a slow process, just getting the fencing right, securing it and adding a roof to keep hawks and owls out, we also have to create a trench to redirect the water flow away from the run, finish the inside of the coop, we are going to be picking up linoleum for the coop floor, secure the nest boxes, add plants they would love and add sand too, so lots to do that is taking the longest to complete

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look!

MuckyPuppy: thank you so much, we have had so much fun working on our coop and run, we are having fun making the sign, my boys who are 10 & 11 yrs old wanted a sign with a double meaning, EggSmart, which can be read Eggs-Mart or Egg-Smart

What are you going to use for the top? I have enjoyed seeing your pictures, they have given me ideas for my coop. I need some kind of netting to keep hawks out of mine. Let us know what you use! Thanks for sharing with us!

How nice that family, friends and neighbors all helped. Nice job - you guys make it fun to be a chicken. Just remember to duck or better yet get hard hats so no one gets beaned going thru the door.
