I assume you recognize the name because if Im not mistaken they traveled to NC.
I named it after the Catawba Indians that to my research traveled right through my property.
My brother has found arrowheads and there is burial grounds that I stay clear from because I have respect for them. I have indian blood in me but thought I'd pay my respects and rememberances to the Catawbas who came right through our property at one point after being forced out of their homeland up north of me. Plus I did not think Crow Quails had a good ring to it LOL!
Very cool. And yes, I live in Catawba, NC in the Catawba river valley - named for the same indian tribe. I had never heard of them until we moved here. Of course, now I know there is a Catawba, OH and a Catawba, CA. And apperently a catawba fruit? That one came from a lady at some "call center" who actually pronounced it correctly!!! Usually people have no idea how to say the name - often it comes out "cat-a-wa-ba"!
Ahhi want to pronounce it right!
I pronounce it "Cat-taw-baw" am i right?
edited to add, i think it pronounce it more like "Cat-taw-Bahh" same as I typed above except i wanted to edit it becuase you might think im making the "w" sound a different way lol.
Anndd i just read your location! Hahaha that is so cool! I actually didn't know that nc had a "catawba" I also didnt know there was a fruit catawba!!! I know that there is a catawba island in lake erie i think it is? Before I had my website for my poultry, I had "catawaba rabbitry"
but before that i had a "dogwood rattery"
I even have on my dogs pedigrees "catawba's"
