UPDATED...HELP PLEASE - SEE Page 4 #34

I understand, I wanted to help the one that took so long. But I knew it would come out when it was ready, didn't want to hurt trying to help. I think they nap in between it probably takes alot of energy to get out.Once they start to zip it seems like they go at it pretty fast. Some of mine got the tops off the eggs, napped, then a while later came out the bottom of the shell was so cute.

if they have just pipped on day 19 they could just sit fhere up to 48 hours just breathing. They could still not have absorbed the yolk and blood yet. When they start zipping they are usually ready to come out.

Well, I'm going to try and go to bed. Doesn't look like I'll get much sleep tonight, either. Oh well, that's becoming the norm. LOL!

I know what will happen...they will be stubborn and wait to come out while I'm at work...

I'll give ya'll the update tomorrow!!

Thanks, Jamie. I was wondering how the whole Day 19 thing would affect the outcome. That makes sense, though. Okay, now I won't worry so much. Maybe I can get a little sleep. LOL

I too must go to bed! I'm going to check just one more time and then knowing they may sit there for 48 hrs and absorb makes me feel better. The one hatched was there early today, have no idea when he pipped. I had just put them in the egg cartons last night around 8pm.

Good luck on your sleeping. I guess being at work will keep us from being tempted to intervene?? My humidity is now up to 75%, is this okay? Should I unplug the one little red plug? I just plugged it up last night, but am not sure at all which is correct. The manual of the 1588 says to plug it for hatching. There are some tiny air holes (I think) and the fan keeps the air moving. This new bator has a learning curve I think.

Luck to all.

Update: My trip to "see one last time" resulted in another baby I just watched hatch out, had zipped and was half out when I got there, and he struggled out of the shell (an EE) and one more has zipped about 80%. Still some pips, most just waiting. Even in the dark the newest little one is chirping pretty loud. He still has his sea legs. Any ideas on how high is too high on that humidity? I popped the little red plug, but there is no condensation on the window.

when hatching occurs the humidity will go up from the moisture inside the egg. Try putting the cap about half way over the hole and see if it comes down a little

Yeah!!! Congrats!!!
This am, I still have no chicks, but have 6 eggs that have pipped. One of the two from last night has zipped, and the one that has its beak stuck out of the hole is still just sitting there. Oh well, its got plenty of time to get out. I'm not worried yet.

I can't wait until lunch to go check on them. It's so exciting...

BTW, I lived in KY for about 1.5 years, many years ago. We lived in Estill County, but had to go to Lexington to shop!!

OK...I have a chick!!!!!
