@enola @Outpost JWB I started Corid liquid yesterday at 2tsp per gallon. I plan to continue for a full 5 day dose. So far I have no symptoms in my remaining two chickens. I will update in a few more days.

This morning I noticed that one of my girls has some swelling between the nostril and the eye. Could this all be related to a single cause? Or is this something separate now?

It could be related, yes. I've seen swelling on a couple of mine when they get respiratory infections. Let me do some research & I'll get back with you.

What I found is it could be a number of things. Could be sinus infection, respiratory infection, mycoplasma gallisepticum, infectious coryza, or a number of any others. If you are not treating the rest of the flock with an antibiotic, I would get them all on it in addition to carrying out the corid treatment.

I would recommend separating them in case one has this disease because you wouldn't want to spread it to both. It is hard to tell but I would even take them out of the coop and clean it again. Make sure there is always water. But also be sure your not stressing them anymore. If it gets worse I would talk to a vet in order to find out for the future and present what you can do,

When you separate chickens from their flock, that causes stress, a LOT of stress.....

Years ago, I had a barred rock with swelling right by her eye, looked similar to what your hen had. The bump was closer to the eye duct, and was causing her eye to be clouded with 'spittle'. I tried a number of antibiotics, but we eventually culled because she became listless and obviously in pain.

I used Sulmet on my flock after I noticed others acting this way, and they turned around. When I introduced more hens to this flock, they also showed symptoms. I treated everyone with Corid this time, and they all turned around and recovered. This is what made me sure that my original Barred Rock was afflicted with cocci, and spread it into my soil.

Respiratory issues are usually secondary symptoms, or they usually pop up in chickens that have a weakened immune system from another culprit. If you're sure there's no worms, then cocci is worth exploring. ACV is good in the water for respiratory support, but I'd advise against treating the water with anything while using antibiotics/dewormers. Let them have a choice, at least between fresh water and treated.

I'm having a very similar issue with a Bantam in a new flock in a different location- head tucked, tail down, isolating herself. I'm not smelling or seeing anything strange in her droppings, but I lost another Barred Rock three weeks ago halfway through a deworming treatment. I'm going to try an antibiotic on the Bantam today.
