Good Grief! Is this an epidemic of wholesale slaughter this week or what?
Sorry about your babies and the kids having to find them. I have had a few near misses with brooders and other critter cages becasue my cats like to wedge in behind them to see what's in them and end up pushing them off on the floor. Some I have had to weight, wedge, barricade, or even put on the floor where they can't be knocked over

And those little silkie chicks are adorable. It is so hard when our children have to learn some of the difficult parts of life .. and death. My heart goes out to them.

Congratulations on that beautiful baby!! I know first hand the emotional roller coster ride of adoption. Our daughter is adopted. We did have 3 months to get ready for her though, I can't imagine 8 days!! Is your daughter adopted also? I can't wait to see more pictures of your little guy!! What is his name?

So sorry you lost the rest of the chicks. It's not your fault. Cats have that behavior ingrained in them. We have two cats and I'll be battling with them soon over our chicks, I'm sure. Nature can be tough.

Enjoy your beautiful family! You can hatch some chicks to enjoy later.
