UPDATED!!! Quail have NOT laid and I have had them for 4 months w/pic?

I got these quail from a local breeder and all of his quail at the time were laying but mine and he said they should start really soon they were still young but I have had them for about 4 months and still no sign off an egg. What should I do since we turned the clocks ahead is it even worth giving them more light. Whats your thoughts or any suggestions. Here is a pic of them.

Quail on natural light should start laying soon. Ours usually start early April once the days get longer.

I'm with Parkboy, can you get pictures of the chests of the birds? It will help give a better idea of what genders they are.

Also daylight savings time has no bearing on how long the day actually is, it just shifts the daylight to more workable hours.

The guy told me that the male was the tuxedo one and he crows as well. After I got them there was some scalping going on to all three of the big brown ones which he said were hens. Another he told me that if I were to place another roo in the cage that the tuxedo guy would kill him in defence of his hens all of his birds were seperated by flocks and place in different cages.

Do the brown one's have spots on their chests or is it a solid rust coloring on the chest? The latter is roo's. I think you may have 4 roo's regardless of what the seller said. They should have been laying by now if they are getting the right feed and nutrition and are in fact females. 28% protein or better Gamebird feed, not regular layer feed. I made that mistake, but mine were still laying by 10 weeks once I switched the feed.

If they don't have supplemental lighting then they may not be laying yet Cindi.

Here is a picture on the chests of two of my birds. If the three non-tuxs are female they should look more like the one on the right. The one on the left is a male.

The females are much larger than the male if that helps any and they look like the ones on the right of the comparison picture . will post pic later and maybe that will clear the air.
