Happy to post pics! Here is Pinky at 11 days old. She is much more alert. She doesn't seem to mind me picking her up and moving her when i replace the paper towels under her. Would be nice is she grows up comfortable with people touching her.
Soo nice...... yeah trust me they get to love you... today was one of my happiest days ever... one of my hand fed squabs that are still learning to fly flew to me and set on my shoulder... I was so happy.. then I pit him on the ground but he flew again on the top of my head .... that was sooo nice.. and agian and again... but yeah the think I'm momma that's why... they get so excited when I show up even though they eat by themselves..... tame the little one and spend half an hour with him every day and see how tame he'll become.... and I don't think that silkies are good flyers so it will be nice to let them out once a week to stretch out in a room..
Here is Pinkie at 12 days old. Does anyone know when they start eating on their own? BTW - i offered the parents some Flockraiser crumbles and they really like them. So giving them that and the dove food every day now.
I had Pigeon squabs start to supplement their diet at 3 weeks of age. They start flying at about 4 to six weeks. I begin tossing my homers at 8 weeks sometimes as early as 6 weeks. Doves will probably vary a bit from homing pigeons.
Nice...they start eating from 3 weeks on as hokum coco said... you should provide a nest bowl from now because the mom will start her next round of eggs any when this week
