Updated w/pix!: I hate to bring back up diapers but.....

Tucson -The safety pins really bother me also

. I have been tying the extra material together to avoid using them. I like the button idea.
I have also though that a ladder type style for the straps would be much better than just two separate straps. It almost like a pain in the bums bra where the straps won't stay up, sooo I thought if the back strap was just one like a racerback bra it would stay up better, and then have two conection points on the breast and belly. Kinda like Eryn's picture but I was thinking of a skinner strap. There's so many feather's that in one picture its hard to see the connection!!!!
Eryn- I don't use the vinyl but do use toilet paper to put in the pouch. I fold up two sheets (2 ply) and place in the baggie then I can just pull out and flush ( don't throw in waste can-PHEW!). When I run out of baggies I will have to try the vinyl. For the most part I have had good luck with this but its such fight with my two girls that their diapers are hardly on at all.
I have two hot pink diapers for my girls and I would also like to dress them up with some frilly lace across their bottoms!!!

My Butika doesn't like the diaper when I first put it on her, but then she gets used to it. I've been experimenting with making a no sew diaper out of a sock. It's going pretty good. I'll post it when I've worked it out to my satisfaction.

what about old vinyl table cloths to use as a liner, they seem pretty soft! I need to replace my every summer for the pinic table, and I sometimes save them for sitting on the ground and a bunch of other uses! I even covered my brooder pen with one when taking the young chickens outside so the have some shade!
ou could make alot of liners from a table cloth, even new cheep ones 1.99 or so! Plus the flannel back may help it from slipping!

Great idea. I will look for some vinal table clothes right away.

I have made several adjustments to the original pattern this last couple of weeks.

I buy 1/8th of a yard and hardly have to do any trimming, it is almost perfect. Instead of a scoop, I like a squared off pouch, it is larger and holds more (think egg + treats + I am the only one to change it, and I am at class several days a week). It is really cute because it looks like a purse when it is done.

The button works and looks cute. The straps are now thinner and longer because the extra long ends look a lot like a bow or ribbon.

Instead of elastic for the whole suspender, I use ribbon and connect one side with elastic to the body of the pouch, and connect the other side of the ribbon suspenders to the back piece that supports the button.

The tail straps reach around the tail and have button holes.

I have started to add a piece of elastic at the tail side of the pouch at the opening. Less stuff falling over the top.

My favorite is red with white polka dots or maybe the white with black polka dots. I have done four so far, and wish I could sew with a machine. This hand sewing is a labor of love.

Yay pictures! I've tried a few designs and have not had luck yet. the suspender type fell down as soon as it got any wieght in it. It may work for my tailless bird though. Still experimenting, some good ideas on this thread!

A most enlightening thread
