I dont have chickens at the moment but this would work wonders for my dogs !!

my big boxers drink ALOT of water outside playing and the tote we use now is a PITA to empty and clean plus if water level gets to low my crippled beagled mix cant reach the water

I will show DH these pics when he gets home and see if we could do something like this here

Good idea. I'm afraid with the heat we are having that the water in the hose would get too hot. I have to run it for a full minute before i can even put my hand in the hot water. I guess an underground line would help that. Hmmmm

Very cool! I don't know if mine will keep them clean.

I change their water feeders and within minutes they are full of dirt and leaves etc...

EVEN when I raise them up thinking that will do it!

So now I keep bins of water all over the yard. ...I've got to try that!

Doesn't the water pan/basin get filthy with poo?

How often do you dump & clean it?
