Well my pen is finished, except the cover I bought ...I can't put up supports for the top the idiot that built this house has a concrete slab poured out their under 10 inches of dirt, and we can't drill post holes through concrete.....so I hope they can't fly out It is just over 6 feet high. so far so good. and they will only be out during the day night times in the coop. Ty everyone who has followed this thread. Hugz kim

Looks like a happy buncha chickens.... There is a solution for putting up supports for tarps.... build a swing-set. or an a frame. what ever width you need and you can drape the tarp over the top. Or net Or wire. I don't have a concrete slab but I do have Decomposed granite for soil Dig down below where construction equipment hasn't disturbed the soil and its like coming up against concrete. So what I am going to do s Dog kennel panels for runs and A frame supports for the overhead structures.

Thats sounds like an idea, I just want to put up my netting that is all I have plus a tarp for winter to keep snow load down. do you think that will hold a snow load sometimes we get a couple feet at a time? and it can be super heavy, thats why I wanted 3 foot deep posts plus 2x4 framing to hold the weight.

Yah hubby told me you can, but it would be extra ex pence, even the extra expense of more framing lumber is not good I have used mostly reclaimed materials and have spent a total for run and coop of 90 dollars, plus the chicken wire that was 89 I think, I really can't afford to rent a bigger drill, and buy a concrete bit. We used our ice auger with a 8 or 10 inch bit, and if that concrete is poured like the extra crap he had poured around here its at least 10 inches thick......... So we ruled that out as an option.
But Thank you for the post letting me know.
