Good thought. Really I'm not a vindictive person, but if it's the seller's responsibility to pursue the insurance claim then you are getting screwed. Time to fight back.
The packing was insufficient.
It should have been taken apart as much as possible and boxed with packing material correctly. Cutting a cardboard box and then taping it together to "fit" was inappropriate and irresponsible on the part of the seller.
File a claim with Ebay and Paypal if the seller is refusing responsibility for his/her crappy packing. Shame on the seller for this. SHAME!!!!!!
