Wow - three in a row. I have no life. But I do have a problem, which I have posted on the injuries board.
One of the orp pullets I brought home from Nat came up lame - I noticed it Wednesday eve. She may have had it before, but she was always standing, and they were a little crowded even in my biggest Fausto-sized cage. I assumed perhaps she banged it while in transit to here. She is now in my room alone, barely eating. I have given her a squirt in the mouth of Nutri-drench yesterday and today. She barely touched a scrambled egg. She is sitting a lot.
Here's the weird part -one of my oldest hens, a 5 yr-old LW, came up lame the same day! I can only think she may have landed on it wrong when she jumped off the nest box, which is about two feet high. The coop and run are clean of debris. She seems to be eating all right, and hobbles around gingerly. Both can put a little weight on the bad foot, but each can barely walk. The hen would lose her mind if I took her out of the coop, and since she's eating, I'm leaving her.
Both girls have clean feet - no marks of any injuries. No symptoms of anything else. People have suggested Marek's but they don't have the symptoms. So, assuming that they are both sprains, or something similar, what are your suggestions?
Thanks guys!
