URGENT!!!! Chicks are dying....

Chicks survive temp drops just fine. Chicks die quickly at high temps. Do not adjust the temp up for anything. Once you have it at the right temp then leave it even if you open the bator, even if you add eggs and it cools, even if you add water and it cools.. do not turn it up for anything. You will end up cooking your eggs and chicks.

Chicks will not die from being knocked around in the eggs unless your humidity is too high. If the humidity is too high the moisture will collect in the air sac of the egg. When the chicks try to pip they will run into water or they might pip up successfully but drown when the pip rolls down so the water runs to where the beak is. If the humidity is correct no harm will come to the chicks by being knocked around. This may not be the reason why your chicks are dying though. If the membrane is drying out then either your humidity is not as high as you think (did you calibrate your hygrometer?) or they are getting blasted by dry air when you open the bator and it's gluing them into the shell. If they dry out even for a short time they will be unable to move around and position to zip. Instead they'll just sit there with their beak sticking out until they die. Usually though they don't die quickly after they pip since they can breathe and everything unless they drown.

Without seeing the situation first hand it's probably impossible to tell if your humidity is too high, too low, or they are dying from temps. Any of those 3 are possible from what you've said.
