Urgent Do Not Think A Baby Chick Will Make It

yes i have dipped her beak in food and water and nothing maybe she will eat later when she gets a little stongder and 19 of the chicks go to their new home

Have you tried to carefully feed her with a syrnge. I am no expert just thinking of things I have read on here. Do you have any vitamins. There is one I have seen used and used myself it is called poly-vi-sol without iron.. Sorry I am not more help Just htought try reposting this in emergencies. You might get more responses.

Hi! Good luck with this little one.

I think keeping her separate from the chickie mosh pit is a good idea. I would be inclined to put one of your calmest little ones from that flock in with her so she's not completely alone. It may help her eat if she sees another one going after it.

I would also make sure her brooder is plenty warm and the humidity is up. The clicking is probably gunk somewhere in her respiratory tract and the humidity can really help.

I wouldn't worry about her eating and drinking yet, babys can survive up to three days because they have the yolk in them. So I would stop trying to force her to eat or drink... Just keep an eye on her, remember she was a little late on coming out so she's going to take longer to get stronger.. Let her keep chirping and don't stress over the water and food thing just yet..

thanks everyone i really appreciate all the advice she is still cherping but not as loud she is resting and laying her head on another chick she does nt stand up on her feet yet just sits on her butt maybe later tonight she will be up and moving

Wel She Was Doind So Good I Think She Is Part Silver Spandled Hamburg So I Put Her In With The Others An Checked On Her Every 30 Min Well She Must Have Been Taking Her First Drink Of Water And They Pushed Her Into The Very Shallow Water Now She Is All Wet And Makin The Clicking Noise Again

Poor thing. (Bossy siblings!)

Sounds like she's a fighter, though. Still

for you and her.

I would keep her separate until she is up and walking, even running. I know she may be lonely, so give her a little stuffed animal or something. But being lonely for a while is a lot better than being drowned or stomped on. I would also try to dry her off.

Yes, sadly... She may be simply too weak. I would still try to offer her a vitamin/electrolyte mix if there's anyway you can get that on hand. Think pedialyte from the store, which is fed to children with diarrhea. The clear kind, unflavoured. That, if you don't have any vitamins, should at least be enough. If she won't drink if you dip her beak in water, take a little eye dropper or syringe and just drizzle it on the side of her beak, not IN her beak as she might choke on it. If you can do this, of course. I would give her time to rest beforehand as well... And just make sure she's warm and dry, mostly. The rest is up to her. Good luck.
