URGENT-- frozen feet!

BluKote is good stuff, I keep it on hand for minor cuts, etc. but if it's something I want to be able to "look at" then I'll use something else.

I wish I’d thought of that or had something else on hand before I sprayed and turned everything dark! Is that necrosis or blue kote? Hmmmn? I just saw bleeding and immediately went with my go to, I have a can with me 90% of the time, solution. What is that they say about hindsight?

LOL Well, I've had that "hindsight" myself But you know Kris, at the end of the day, the stuff really is good, so....I still use it. I'm usually blue along with the chicken for several days, but I still use it!

I am not enamored with the blue stuff.
The couple times I've used it it just attracted more pecking attention:
-From other birds, in the case of a chick with a bloody comb.
-From the bird it was on, bloody pin feather on tail...he just tried really hard to preen that crap off himself.
I even used it to ID a bird, figured it would stain her feathers...she preened it all off with a day. SMH.
It did work pretty well to stain water in the house waste water system to test a plumbing problem.

I use vetricyn or neosporin on the chickens.

I don't use as an anti-pick, just for it's antiseptic (?) properties. They can preen it off pretty quick depending on where it's located. I did find out it is good for egg i.d. I "painted" a vent one time, eggs had a blue streak for several days
Combs...I usually just leave those alone, a scab is fairly dark, anything like BluKote or even something shiny like Neosporin just draws attention - at least with mine

So @Dona Worry ..hows the ailing birds this morn?

They are doing good! The feet look pretty knarly, I'll probably do a soak and take more pictures during lunch.
All 3 hobbled over to the food using their feet at least a little, and Jamie (previously known as Zoe) and Peri both stood to eat. Victoria lay down to eat and drink, but did walk a little to go back to the log.

I have used BluKote that has worked well with scalped Polish chickens. My chickens stopped pecking or pulling out feathers with application every 2-3 days. It worked at least 4 or 5 times over several years. There also is a product called Alushield that is a silver wound bandage that works to help keep wounds clean and hide red:
