We've recently had 5 little Call ducklings hatch, we're nearing what would be day 31. All ended up as assists as they were shrink wrapped. I took my time and seems most are good. 3 of 5 in brooder now, getting about, eating drinking. 1 was tipping over so have been keeping in incubator in a sock sleeve to make it rest and gain strength, making good progress.
The last darling seems to have somehow gotten stuck to the inside of its egg shell, I've been leaving it be as much as possible and have separated from others so as not to knock it but it's making no progress for over 24hours now
The yolk seems to be gone however there's a kind of gooey looking membrane/thread attached between egg and umbilicus prolapse. I'm unsure if maybe it got knocked about earlier when all were in the incubator still and this pulled the umbilicus area out or what. Ive very carefully looked, ensuring not to pull or tug however I just can't see how I could help it.
Is there any chance at all the gooey but will dry up enough to fall off and the prolapse will retreat? It's foot is covering it quite a bit too so I can't even try to keep it moist or apply anything without running the risk of pulling on the connected tissue.
I'm unable to get a good photo as the foot and shell are in the way
