Hi ? I have a shamo cockerel and hen ? He is very happy in himself and I’m sure his healthy ? However he’s feather quality is terrible and I was wondering if I could help this attall ? I know the breed are known for some feather loss but there must be a way of re gaining some feathers and shine ?

I was told to rub baby oil on him ?!?

No baby oil, especially if you're in a colder climate. He won't be able to keep himself warm. To encourage healthy feather growth, a good poultry vitamin does wonders. For temporary shine, you can use the show-trick of "polishing" his feathers with a silk cloth. I use an old silk scarf I picked up at the thrift store. It puts a nice shine on our Nankins' feathers on show day!

Great stuff !!!
Regarding the oil ? I saw a YouTube video called steal rail game farm and was just picking up pointers from there ?

I just want him in tip top condition? What about a heat lamp

I guess the heat lamp depends on where you're located. If the temps don't go below freezing, and/or there aren't any major drafts in your coop, there shouldn't be a need for heat. It's not worth the fire risk.
