Urgent need of advice!

I just returned from a camping trip that left me with zero dollars, I will have more money this afternoon however. I am out of chick starter and my almost month old chicks are in need of food. I can purchase more starter this afternoon but for the time being, could I give them some layer feed to hold them over? I know it can lead to problems over time but my thinking is how bad could a couple hours be with the calclium. What do you guys reccomend?

Yes, they can eat layer feed for a day.
