URGENT- New Chicken owner and Hen Injured in Attack

I had a rooster that got attacked and ripped his skin right off his head, gone,about a 2x4" section. I could see the points of his bottom jaw moving across his skull. I thought for sure he was going to die! But he starting eating and walking around like nothing happened, so I gave him a shot. I rinsed with sterial saline, applyed some beaidine and some nitrofurizone, and hoped that wouldn't kill him. I also put some terrimycin in his water. Now he's healed up and almost all the feathers are back, and the skin grew back together. They heal unbeliveably well.

Update:

This morning I brought the small chicken tractor we had built into the garage to give her a little more room rather than keeping her just in the cat carrier (we had to build a bigger coop to accommodate for the larger flock than we anticipated). This way she can walk around and spread her wings. Plus she kept knocking over the water or food dishes and then laying in her poops. I put newspapers down on the floor and took the ramp away so she does not go up to the top (I want her to stay as clean as possible). I kept the carrier in there in case she wants an enclosed space to sleep in. She is still eating a drinking and walking around. I hope she makes it like your rooster did. Thanks again!

The wound on her head is really hard on the outer perimeter. I think the EMT gel is building up or something else. What is the best way to soften that up and cleaning that up without causing her too much stress and without messing up the healing process? It is on top of her head but on the side top. Whatever I do (saline rinse or EMT Gel) it runs down to her ear and eye and she shakes her head and starts getting annoyed. What is the best way to clean it up and do I even need to?

Hello everyone. I wanted to thank everybody who helped with treating my injured hen. It was really really bad. Huge gaping wound on her neck, no skin left, her head had no skin left on the top. I just wanted to update everyone that she is doing a lot better. Her skin is growing over the wound and it is very small now. She is even growing new feathers over the spots. I am so glad. Thanks again for the help and support. Maybe next week we will try to re-introduce her to her old pals. We tried once to see what they would do, but the Head Lady kept trying to peck at her head. So, she is staying in the garage in her chicken tractor until all her wounds are covered with feathers.

By the way, I am now addicted to reading all these posts. I don't have much to contribute yet, but I will eventually.
