I stated that poorly. But it NEVER does matter MORE to someone else than it does to you. And many many an owner has lost a dog because they felt something was wrong and were told by a loved one, friend or veterinarian to WAIT.
They wait and the animal dies and they're the ones with the empty house.
Yes veterinary staff do care, hopefully. But most are also human and make huge mistakes, especially over the phone when they'd rather not go in, or if the owner "seems to be over reacting."
When it comes right down to it, there is no substitute for actually taking the dog to the vet.
Yes, people online care too, but their home will not be empty if the dog dies while nature takes it's course.
I know of many animals that have died because a vet said bring it in tomorrow, or it can stay at the hospital overnight (no night staff), or just wait and see.
The vet is always surprised, always dismayed, often sorry. However, it is the owner who has the empty space in his or her home and heart.
You care, sure, as much as you can about another person and their animals. But online advice is worth what you pay for it.
There is no substitute for following your gut and presenting the animal you are worried about to a veterinarian.
It's nature's course to kill off the weak, the sick, the injured, one's with weaknesses an owner or vet might never have seen, that's dandy for the survival of the fittest, it sucks if it's your pet that isn't.
And that's all I was really saying. I'm very glad she had them and all is well.
