Hello everyone, I randomly came out to my backyard to check on my rooster and I found that one of his spur's went missing/broken and is bleeding. I'm assuming that his spur got stuck somewhere and therefore it broke. Does anyone know any cures or treatment to this? Please let me know ASAP if you have any suggestions!

Here are some pictures of my rooster's broken spur ⬇️:

Thanks,
Valerie

Hello! Can you put pressure on it to stop the bleeding? Then afterwards keep an eye on it for infection. My neighbors roo ripped his off, he healed without intervention.

I would leave it alone, and it may bleed a little, but will eventually stop, clot, and heal. The spur will eventually grow back. It will be tender, so I don’t touch, and the more you handle him, the more it will bleed.

If it doesn't quit bleeding put a little bit of cornstarch on it. All over it. That'll make it clot. I have used flour in a pinch and also once I used pancake mix. LOL
Hello SeramaMamma, thank you for the tip! I tried to put a little bit of potato starch and it seems to be helping.
