URGENT~ SOFT SHELLED EGGS AND A LETHARGIC DUCK!!!

Quackers stomach is swollen. It almost hangs down to the ground. I felt it and it felt soft and spongy. How do you tell what it feels like if there is fluid?

PetDuck do you have any poultry vitamins?

Can you safely bring her inside for a night? Is it getting cold where you are? Just trying to think of things that may reduce stress on her immune system.

I don't have any vitamins. It is only 60 degrees outside right now. She started living outside when she was little so being inside stresses her out a bit. Should I put a heat lamp in her hutch to keep her warm? I could bring her inside if I need to. Should I? What else could I do to comfort her? She is in her hutch with soft hay sleeping...

Might over heat her too. I'd just leave it as is unless you feel she would be better off inside. Hopefully Amiga or Haunted will give you more ideas. Do you have Apple Cider vinegar? you could put some in her water bucket. 1-2 tabs. to 1 gal of water. Please let us know how she is in the morning.

Just an FYI, if the vet gives Baytril, see if there is another antibiotic that would work. Baytril can be very hard on their stomachs. I have had to give it to one of mine recently and she went off her food for a bit. She would eat, but it was noticeable when she went off it, she started eating much better again. Also, when I have given it to my chinchilla he would not eat, so we had to change antibiotics.
Keeping you and Quack Quack in my prayers. Please let us know how you make out.
