First time hatching chicks,

Saw mom pulling on baby, some blood. Thought she was cleaning her baby then she kept pulling and yolk was coming out.

Took the chick and put under heat lamp...the poor thing has some yolk sac hanging out of her.

Please advise!

What you can do is wrap the chick in a sterile damp cloth and keep her warm (95*F or thereabouts) while she finished absorbing the yolk. Make sure the cloth stays damp, so the yolk doesn't dry out. Sometimes the chick will absorb the yolk and survive this and sometimes they don't. It depends on how much yolk needs to be absorbed, how much blood she lost, etc. Fingers crossed for your chick. Good luck!
