Used and abused -- I learned my lesson (a little long)

Unbelievable. The good news is that you have the start of a portfolio. The bad news is that you feel bad and maybe lost a friend. THEIR loss... not yours. I would love to see your work! Will you post pics? We will make all your bad feelings go away!

Look at the positive side of this; even though it turned out badly you got some great experience using your software and doing the editing and touch-ups. This means the next time you do a shoot, for real customers, you will have that knowledge and experience to use. This turns a perfectly horrible situation into a positive for you and negative for them. You gained valuable experience and they gained nothing, you also were able to show some beautiful work. I'd post before and after pictures so you can show how you are able to turn pot-stirring witches into fairy princesses! Too bad you can't edit their hearts too.

I would post the BEFORE pictures with a "with a lot of editing I can make anyone look good caption" then post the AFTER.

So sorry you had to deal with this...such and ungrateful kid!

I'm right there with you,I have had enough of ungrateful ppl in my life over the past year..cutting all ties. Just love how people take advantage of thier "friends" . Be glad your done with them.

Didn't mean to get on a soap box...

Oh that makes me so mad when people act like such turds! I hope this is a wake up call for her on the proper way to treat people. Especially when they are doing something for FREE!!! But, she is probably too clueless to grasp the concept......

I cannot for the life of me figure out where this up and coming generation gets their sense of entitlement. I raised my with very few extras, punishment for things done wrong, etc., and he even has that attitude. Not to this extent but still. Where does it all come from?????

I am sorry you went through that, and equally as glad you are not going to anything else for those rude children.

I had a nice nikon D80 a year or so ago (sold it so hubby could get a tractor LOL) and was adviced by my 'mentor' not to ofer free work for this reason. I would certainly not be giving them any pictures, that's for darn sure! Hubs and I keep telling ourseves we won't help people anymore, these things happen all the time. people are so selifsh, rude, etc now-a-days. I know your frustration and am sooo soo sorry. I would post the originals to show how aweful they looked, if they're making fun of your editing. What jerks, I am soo soo sorry.

I can so relate. My mom is a pro photographer of over 30 years. She is constantly going to classes and siminars to keep up to date on the latest things. She will spend hours shooting and then hours retouching with hardly a thank you. Sometimes people never even order 1 picture. She has finally started telling people NO when they ask if she can do stuff for them as a "friend".
