I have a Sheltie who has this wonderful double coat. Brushing him out, I have LOTS of hair that I've been baggie up. I put some out for the birds to use for their nests, but got to wondering if I could put some in the brooder for my baby chicks that will be arriving in a few weeks. Any comments?

Huh..... interesting. My first thought, to be totally honest is, gross! But wild songbirds and such do it... IDK.

Let us know how it works out if you do it.

I think this would be really nice for your nests.

But chicks don't nest. Chicks are specifically out of the nest. Ground birds like chickens hatch their eggs and then move on. Nest material could be problematic for chicks as previously stated.

But it might be nice for incubation for broody hens.
