Using Ichthammol for Bumblefoot

I have been treating a hen for weeks for bumblefoot using all the methods listed here. I was not making any progress and started using black drawing salve twice a day and then wrapping with gauze pad and then vetwrap. Her feet are remarkably better after 6 days. Two questions: How long can I use Ichthammol on her feet? She has been in vetwrap for so many weeks how do I toughen the bottoms of her feet when she no longer needs the wrappings. Thanks!!

I have used it before, it works pretty good. I have used it for a good long time on one roo, hehe. As far as toughing up the foot, well... changing the bedding from something soft to gradually what you use now would be my best guess.

Thanks Chickenzoo for your response. This hen with the wrapped foot has free run of chicken house with sand on the floor as well as a large run which has been long stripped of vegatation and is dirt and small rocks. I am in the process of raking up the rocks and pebbles to get back to dirt and sand. I can't imagine her bare tender feet back on the rough ground.
