USPS Inefficiency

I did a estimate of shipping at usps.com and a 4lb box size C from west coast to east is few cent less for express, priority mail cost more then express. They use to make their money on first class mail, with so many people not using snail mail they have to make money some how I guess.

Just a guess here but I hardly think they sort all the packages in the shipping plants and take the priority ones and scoot them out the door and not the other regular ones. I think it is a well devised plan to charge a few pennies more and they probably just divide them at the last transfer spot and hold them an extra day. It would not make sense to fly two planes half full so one gets there before the other. The extra cost is probably the tracking feature and that is only there if you ask for it.

I do know they give you the biggest box for free because they charge more for it at the P.O. when you use it. The tape is free also.
