USPS Shipping?

Yes, the first order that was shipped was kept at a distribution center 30 minutes away from me and kept them for 2 days. They arrived the Monday Morning and were all dead. Ideal shipped them out again and the new order arrived all alive!
That is quite sad, I would guess they arrived after the trucks left for the PO's Saturday morning. But any decent person would look at the package for your phone number (which hopefully the shipper put on the label), call you and figure out how you could pick them up. ASSUMING of course they were still alive, and that would be obvious. Best, if possible, to order chicks that will be shipped on Monday. Glad the replacements were fine.

Also if your post office has Saturday hours, I would drive there. On the phone it may not be likely that someone will go in the back room and look for your package, but in person you may get more accomplished.
There is no way ANYONE in the PO is unaware there is a box of chicks in the building. They are very unhappy and loud. Everyone knows there are chicks/ducks/poults as soon as they get to work. They want those birds gone as soon as possible. My wife is a PO clerk and has one guy that must work a really early shift. She has to listen to the chicks peeping until he shows up around noon.

Ideal is not the problem. You say yourself they were shipped that same day.
Your problem is the Postal system.
What does the tracking information show when you look that up?

FWIW...My post office has never once called me to tell me that my chicks when in.
I have always had to physically go to the post office to find out.
You should talk to the Postmaster. I don't know about where you live but around here they call. And you should call the PO a day or 2 before they are to arrive to alert them that you are expecting chicks, give them your phone number, ask them to call.

I don't think that USPS delivers live birds to your street address even if they normally deliver your mail. I think they always hold them at the local facility for pick up. This, however, is good. It means they are likely inside somewhere warm for the time being! Try not to worry too much as there isn't much you can do now but wait for Monday morning.
Usually true and correct, you don't want them in the carrier's car for hours. However my 2017 order from Meyer was "special carried" direct to my house arriving after 11 AM Tuesday. I have no idea why they didn't go to the PO as I expected unless they took a direct flight from Cleveland to Burlington rather than the typical Cleveland to Nashua, NH flight, they are trucked north overnight to the distribution center from there and then to the PO.

They never provided me with tracking information, I looked it up and made sure it wasn't just me that didn't get a tracking number.
Unacceptable. Tell them why you won't be ordering from them again.

Mine have always been delivered. I have yet to actually drive to the post office. YEsterday I received a bird and wasn't called but that is probably because I talked to my postal carrier the day before to explain what I had coming in and to verify I was on his route the next day. I felt like a cheeswad for only leaving a 10 dollar tip for my special delivery in the early AM hours.

-----edit---------
I did put it in a seasons greetings card as I didn't tip them for christmass either! It sucks having three postpeople, vs just 1.
USPS employees are FORBIDDEN to take cash, or anything that can be converted to cash or anything worth more than $20. If your carrier didn't return the cash, he/she is in violation.

Often live shipments are transported between USPS sorting facilities by an intermediate carrier such as FedEx.
Won't be FedEx, but there are non USPS companies that are contracted to move the mail, even from the distribution center to the POs.
