Utah!

Aravis sorry about the bator mix up. I initially knew I was supposed to get it, but was under the impression that Cynthia ended up still using it and did not think to have Sphinx ask if you had it! My bad!

Mimi glad you made it down to meet some of the best chicken folk. Diana and Cynthia are such sweet gals, yes?? Fun to have friends on here :)

Red sorry to hear about the cold going around! I got my denegard off the internet, just google....I also really like this stuff called VetRX on this link below--it is more of an organic treatment and I have heard great things about it, have been debating just using it as an alternative to the denegard. But I know CYnthia swears by that stuff and she has wayyyy more experience with that kind of stuff so I would use her advice if you have one already sick for sure! I have just been using the VetRx as a preventative.

I like that site alot, it is mostly goat supply but the forums and main pages have lots of helpful chicken info. and the DE comes is smaller bags, although a little more expensive per pound,

HI everyone!  Man, I feel like I've been away from family for the longest time.  I miss you guys!  I've also missed a lot of posts...so just scanned the last couple pages...Cynthia, I'm soooo happy you FINALLY have your partridge!!!  Woohoo!!!   I haven't sent you a check yet...but will get that done tomorrow!
Ara, that incubator was coming to me.  :)  Will you, or anybody else down that way, be coming to Farmington next weekend for the poultry show?  Speaking of which, who is going?
Lisa, I don't have to work on Saturday until 5pm, so I'm planning on going down in the morning if you'd like to ride with me.  :D

When it warms up tomorrow and I put the chicks outside for a little while, I'll take some pictures to post an update.  The MIlle Fleur/Calico Cochins are becoming prettier every day.  :love   Pretty dang sure one of my bantam Ameraucanas is a cockerel, the jury is still out on the other.  It's feathering much slower.  Auntie Hattie, are you alive and well?

Thanks for the fun offer! Will let you know, we had planned to go to Frightmares next weekend, to avoid the UEA rush the following weekend, but it may not work if my daughter has practice, her coach has not decided yet. I will find out and let you know! ;) A chicken show sounds like fun so if she is practicing, I will do it!

Pretty dang sure one of my bantam Ameraucanas is a cockerel, the jury is still out on the other. It's feathering much slower. Auntie Hattie, are you alive and well?

After the Chicken show come to the Utah state fairgrounds for my cat show. Its Saturday and Sunday. There will be many beautiful and rare cats showing. Of course I will be showing my Sphynx Hours are 9 to 4 daily. Sasha do you have any bcm pullets you will sell me?

No stress about the bator. I'll be up in Ogden next weekend on Saturday so I can bring it up there or drop it off in Farmington on my way. I'm reading from my phone this weekend and I might miss messages here...if anyone wants to make specific plans please message me :)

So I just had one of my SFH out with my son, who has been incredibly gentle with the chicks but he moves fast and it makes them nervous, she threw up a little bit, looked like water. Should I be concerned or is that fairly normal nervous behavior?

If the crop was pushed a little hard, they will do this. No problem, shouldn't happen again if they are held around the wing area, and the neck area isn't being pushed on. Sounds like you are enjoying the babies. They will be spoiled chickens! They will really come to you when you finally have them outside. Two weeks, I'm thinking two more weeks..then, pictures. They change that fast!

Sitting outside, enjoying chicken tv. My two EE babies jumped on my lap for a cuddle. Totally made my day! They haven't cuddled with me for a long time. Then I read "Poultry Show." Hmmm... I need to look into the details of that. And a cat show to boot. My DH is not going to like the sounds of either of those. (Ok he is good with the poultry show but wants to keep me away from the cat show...my cat passed away earlier this year).

My notaglw has been laying an egg a day for two weeks now. The two older girls are still holding out on me. Lacy has been getting extra treats. I have wondered if they are taking turns, but I haven't seen any others that have any blood on them and the eggs are all a similar size and shape (medium brown eggs), except the first one was small and pink. I took some pictures last week of her first week of eggs, I'll have to remember to post it (need to be at the real computer for that).

My DH has been bad at communicating when he is south or north for transportation, but if he remembers one of these times, I will post it here.

With all these cute pics of chicks (SFH, no less), I am having a hard time keeping my promise to wait til spring for more chicks...

I have three that will go into lock down on Wed. :)) Hoping all three hatch, but will probably only keep one! We will see what I get, I may have two for you. If you are interested in the SFH's!

Sasha, did you watch GC??! Big announcement today..that was sooo exciting! Can you see the Bishops being really busy here soon? lol...fun!

Put out the new treadle feeder about two weeks ago, and had it propped open with a rock. Today's the day I closed it, and hopefully, the girls will get the idea of how to open it themselves over the next few days. I swear we were feeding every sparrow in southern Utah! You should see how fat they are.

Me too! I've shown my husband those, and some of the prints on how to build one..he said that would be easy..may be his in the shop job for a while come this winter. They are getting worse as it gets cooler. I saw probably over 10 in the Silkie pen this morning..the polish babies were trying to run them off, but they are determined! I have a sparrow trap, but it didn't work at all last year. Maybe I'll try again, the probes going in more. ??
