Yep, we ran into the rooster camping. AND I brought my chicks camping when I was a nervous first time chicken mom.

Sundance, the sad thing is, I'd already run 6.5 miles today in preparation for the tough mudder. But yeah, it definitely was a bit of a workout. Sadly, my kids don't care.

My friend Carolyn who is the veterinarian is also doing the mudder on Saturday. She paid her Techs to show her cats on Saturday so she could do the run

I've been so quiet! You've all probably been wondering! We're doing well around here. My phone finally gave out. I shattered the screen a couple of weeks ago and had been limping along with it, but it finally just plain stopped, plus we're having trouble with our internet so I haven't been able to use my computer! As soon as we finish the battle with Comcast I'll post pictures of my Fly Girls.

I have a quick question for you about my australorp, Donna. She's the biggest of everyone and last night I noticed that she was ruffling her feathers all out when she pooped, I saw her do it twice. Her poop looks normal and I can't see any signs of pasty butt. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is it just normal as they get older?

Hi aravis! Sounds like a normal poop time. Sometimes they fluff, sometimes they don't. When babies, they usually do the wriggle the butt a few times while going, then when the get older, they may fluff while squatting. Good luck with Comcast. We got rid of Comcast, and just went with our city plan. Cheaper, and, we get almost the exact same thing on it! Even the remote! There are a few things missing..like us seeing who is calling when the phone rings while we are watching, but I think we can check that out ourselves. Just bring the phone in the room with us if we are watching something. )
Can't wait for the pictures of the Swidish..are they changing? And yes, I was just wondering about you last night. Glad you posted!

Aravis, that sounds like normal chick behavior, I wouldn't worry. Sorry about your battle with Comcast. We've had our battles, but right now, we're in a period of peace.

Sundance, I didn't realize Carolyn showed cats. Best of luck to her with the race. You'll have to get all the details for me so I have a heads up for Sunday. The race course is back up to 11.5 miles. <gulp>

I hung around in the coop this morning, and found out that Cinderella, my olive egger, is definitely the green egg layer that start laying a couple days ago. It's not quite as dark as I was hoping for, but it's really quite pretty. It also matches my front room wall. LOL

Sphinx, what a gorgeous egg. Good luck with the run! That's kind of funny, in an "Oh, no" way about the chicks. The little one you brought home reminds me of my black Wyandotte, Angel. She looked similar to that as a baby. Maybe yours has some Wyandotte in her?

Aravis, I feel for you. My laptop is down, I don't have much access to my brother's lappy, and our dinosaur desktop machine at home is in serious need of some TLC, so it's a pain to work with. What's sad is that it's still preferable to my work computer

I think I found a home for one of the BR cockerels I got from Lisa a little while back. He's grown so much that he's already the size of my pullets who are laying, and he's only a little over 3 months old, I think. He's such a well behaved boy, and so pretty, too. I was really worried that when it came time to rehome him, he would be going directly into someone's soup pot. Then I talked to my uncle who keeps chickens and found that he's interested in getting a new cockerel for the chicks he had hatch out this year. He wants some new blood for breeding. I told him about the BR I have, and he sounded pretty interested! So my boy may have a new, good home. Yaay!

Red that is great you may have a home for your BR! How did the one turn out that looked kinda weird when it was little? Was it a leg that was shorter or something? Hope he is ok. I love BR they are my favorite <3

Sphinx, this is so funny. I read your post...then went out to the coop.....my last OE has been in the nest all morning... Sure enough! This one laid its first egg today too! This one's lighter than my others too....it looks very much like yours, even a little lighter maybe lol! they must have been thinking the same thing. Yours looks much bigger though! Nice egg! I am just so glad it was Olive, I kept thinking it would end up brown, her comb is a little less tight pea-comb like the other one. i'll put a pic on here of those olive eggs.

I was working in the palace today. Feeding watering etc. I noticed that my olive egg and Auracana er pullets ( I hope) have suddenly turned bright red, I need to watch and listen. Listen for crowing and watch for extra eggs. Hope to see some of you at the cat show Saturday or Sunday. If we haven't met ask for me.

My Lavender Americana lays a really pretty very blue egg
