Utah!

Welcome chick chick......I'm in Sandy on the other side of the mountains.

Hey Marty...how's the chicks? Mine are getting so big. I let 'em out in the afternoons for an hour or so so they can stretch their legs a bit. They love going outside and hate it when I bring them in. Today, my stepson started the coop and should be done by next weekend. It is going to be one "mighty nice" home for the girls. I'll post pics when it's done.

I got done with the chicken tractor, and they (like you said) hated it when brought them back in. So I put them outside Friday night.

Tonight is the 3rd night one their own. And it's snow out. *sigh* I did break down and put the 250 ceramic heater in there for them. They seem to love it outside.

Hey SoJo, got any chickens yet? How many, what flavor? How many chickens does SJ let you have?

Also, I just found a couple of articles in the trib about Chickens...

I'm new here - anyone else in the Highland/Alpine area? We have six chickens so far, but can have up to 12 on our half acre lot. 3 Rhode Island Reds, 2 White Leghorns, and 1 very friendly Black Star named Lola. She lays 6 eggs a week and she dances (she is named for Lola in Barry Manilow's Cobacabana "Her name was Lola, She was a showgirl, with painted feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there, she would merengue, and do the chacha..." our kids LOVE her). I'd love to find more Black Stars!

We're building a bigger coop this weekend so we can get more chickens - can't wait!

I am new too. I am in Sandy where leagally I can have 6 chickens that are non-nusance (IE no roosters). But since I am breaking the law on dogs, why not chickens. We are building the chicken ark or Catawba ConvertiCoop. It is almost done. If it would quit raining we could start putting it together.

I don't have chickens for meat or eggs. I have lots of chicks in the brooder, 18 to be exact. I took into consideration that half will be roosters and will have to go. So they are pets. I have cochin bantams, silkies and polish. Polish seem to be really hard to get.

By the way anyone interested in a partridge cochin roo? I am preety sure one of my 4 week olds is a roo.

Welcome Waibel Zoo!

What part of Sandy are you in? I'm around 8600 South 1300 East.... But, I'm in a county island zoned A-1 so I can have 50 birds... (naa ner naa ner...)

But, I'm finding my chicken tractor is too small. They're pecking my RIR... I May have to let them in the yard more often, or make a real coop (like you said, if it ever stops raining and snowing!) My ladies are 7 and 8 weeks today.

Marty

Hey Waibel Zoo........I am at about 8200 South and 900 East. Six chicks is our limit, but the coop we're almost finished with will support 8, so there you go. I've got 3 Barred Rocks and 3 Red Sex Links. Hopefully the weather will break so that we can finish on Sunday. In the meantime, the girls get to roam outside when possible and they hate comin' in. They're 7 weeks old now. Marty and I got ours from the same lady in Sandy. I'll post pics when done. Welcome to BYC.

I am in the 9800 S and 1800 E are. You are not far from me. I can have upt to 6 non-nusance chickens. So no roosters. Lucky you, you canhave up to 50 birds.

Hey, PacsMan, we're neighbors! But I'm in city, so 6 is my limit. It's nice to see some locals here. Just got my chicks today--certainly an interesting adventure!
