Off to get that MRI we have been trying to get ins. to pay for on my lower back. I did the therapy, so they will pay now. hmmmm.....anyway, into the small tube I go. Not too bad, I just think of anything and everything while I'm in there. lol...

Good luck CYnthia--I hope you have good results! Think about that olive egg! :)

Hey all, so I made my incubator (using lots of info from BYC). I'm not quite finished, but here is the foundation. I currently have 3 mason jars with water (heatsinks), a tupperware of water on some ceramic tiles (for humidity), a water heater thermometer, and a PC fan (sitting on a mason jar) to blow up at the light and thermometer. I haven't bought a thermometer/hygrometer to measure the exact temperature and humidity, but the food thermometer I have in there says the temperature is fluctuating between 96 and 104 degrees. What could I do to regulate the temperature better? What should the humidity be here in Northern Utah?

The following pictures are of the outside of the incubator, inside the first window, and inside the second window. Any help would be awesome!

Acemario way to go! Sorry I'm not able answer any of your questions but someone on here will. Will this be your first time incubating? It is addicting so now you have been forewarned.

Cynthia so sorry you had to do another MRI. I hope all went well for you.

Well I have 4 pips! I love hearing the little chirps by my computer. Heres hoping all goes well.

AuntHattie- Yes, this is my first hatch! I'm pretty pumped! I am hoping to get between 6-8 hens, so I will be setting about 20 eggs, I think. Do those proportions sound right?

Ok, for the chicken train, going ahead and placing boys. Here is a picture of the Bubba of the flock, there is always one. And the wings look pretty much like a boy, and the beak is more wide, and of course the attitude. Sooo laid back. All of the others scatter, he just stands there and looks at me hand in there. Boys are known to stay their ground right? And the girls scatter right? I hope I have this right. I will be able to tell better in a few days, but this one really makes me think boy. A couple more have the puffy cheeks and muff, but not quite as much as this one. So, who want's an Olive Egger Roo in the future..a pretty boy.

Has the fuzzy feet

Very clever, But newtons law says if you want hens and set 20 eggs most likely you'll get all rooster. At least that is my luck Just be sure to turn the eggs

Hey, just a quick pic showing what I have been doing today. had one blocking the doorway so no one could get out. So I had to do some untangling. Everyone is doing good now though.
Of course I got hit with a bad vertigo attack while I was bringing them in the house. So I am moving slow now but at least I have a week before anyone else is due.

Take a look at the pics in my profile I made one of these and used it last year. The w/h thermostat uses the the metal of the tank to tell it when to turn it on and off. So I mounted mine on to a piece of sheet metal. Between this and the heat sinks I was able to keep the temperature set with barely in fluctuation.
