Hey all! Looks like I'm a little behind. I got super caught up in the Easter hatch-a-long!

Thanks Bluejems for the eggs! We got 3 FBCMs 1 OE and 1 WA. (There were 3 other OE/WAs that were shrink wrapped...

They were so close!

One of the FBCMs is super weak though. I'm going to try feeding it with a syringe. We'll see if that will save his little life.


Also, one last question. Does anyone else have Easter-born chicks they are trying to get rid of? I was hatching for my friend as well as myself, and I don't think I'll have enough for both of us...

Oh, I see Lisa already offered..if you want more, I have a Welsummer that is looking girly, a LF cochin, not sure of the coloring..partrige? I have a black with a white dot on it's head..so thinking it will be a barred, looks girly, also a real pretty OE, that's grey/blue, with browns in it...can't tell for sure on the sex, but it's a pretty little chick. Just a thought.

Acemario, I will pm you after they hatch. There should be plenty of wheatens, but won't know gender, takes a bout 6 weeks on those. Sex links for sure we will know who the girls are.

Cynthia, have you got a girlie looking olive egger yet for yourself? Can't wait for you to get that olive egg!

Went out to the coop, everybody seems to know it is spring and wanting to be broody. I gave them all a little squirt from the water bottle and that scared a few off, will see how long that lasts :/

Hey I just did a few drops every little while and then put a sour cream lid in the brooder filled with the electolyte/vit. stuff. the chicks downed all that pretty quick.
I might have a few chicks left this afternoon. I will let you know after the person leaves tonight.

Cynthia--pic for you, I keep forgetting, I wanted you to see how the Polish turned out that I got from you, in your chick order last fall. This is the black crested white. She has a small round crest, she is the one I thought would be male, she has hardly any hat at all as a chick....but I really like how the coloring turned out, and she is a total sweet heart. No skittish at all, she likes people. She has been sitting a little bit in the nests so I am hoping she won't take as long as Elvis lol

Well, I figured out the problem with my silky hen....She wasn't eating the pellets, she has never eaten anything but cracked corn and free ranged. She is getting better and is doing really well now.
I have been letting them out to free range and the rooster is really protective of her. The little bugger has an attitude though and just chased Jessi into the house. So I ran out and chased him back to his coop. He knows not to mess with me.

Awww so very cute! Love the muffs on Sparkles baby Hope it's a girl! Oodles of cute babies right there. Glad your silkie is doing better. She will love her new diet once she gets used to it, hope she starts laying again after her inner balance comes back!
